7 Days of Cyber Yoga And I Feel Great
The positive side of COVID-19; is I get to do as much yoga as I want, connecting with yoga studios from around Australia.
Okay, so I have only connected to one yoga instructor outside of Sydney who is in Byron Bay, the rest have all been in Sydney. But still, I have connected with so many studios I would not have normally been able to get to, and all thanks to the fabulous options now available to connect online and do a LIVE yoga class through either Vimeo or Zoom.
I suppose under the current environment we are living in with these lockdown restrictions, we need to look at the positives. Because focusing on nothing but the negative will send us mad. if we haven’t gone mad in self-isolation already that is.
Yoga is what really is keeping me sane. Digital media is a perfect outlook for us all to stay connected, but it can also be very stressful and frustrating when you want to meet up with friends and family, get out of the house and attend a social gathering.
Even if you weren’t that social, I guarantee there is something you’re missing right now, which you aren’t able to do at this present point in time, and it’s completely out of our control. And that’s the real deal right there isn’t it? It’s completely out of our control.
I rarely went our for dinner, but I a love markets, taking drives and eating brunch or late lunches in unusual places or at my favourite places. So if evening, I don’t feel I have missed out too much. But the days can be challenging. Even when I get to the supermarket to do the shopping, or take a walk somewhere, the idea I am restricted to go anywhere with anyone outside of my household is difficult.
But, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and yoga has certainly guided me towards that light. And not in a heavy religious way. I mean spiritually.
Prior to the lockdown, life was getting busy with both work and personal commitments in the family. Meaning, I didn’t get a chance to continue my yoga journey, which is something that has been bothering me for a while now.

So when COVID-19 happened and I started getting all these emails of some of my favourite studios letting me know I could still connect and stay at home, doing live yoga classes through ZOOM. I jumped on board right away and was so excited to get started. I was able to finally do that 7pm yin class I have always to do in the city, but have never wanted to drive all the way back home so late at night.
And connecting with a 6am flow class? Sure, I can do that too, and I don’t have to worry about packing a gym bag with a change of clothes if needed, drive in any traffic or even worrying about eating.
I get up, connect, do the yoga and then get on with my day. Or go to bed afterwards, depending on what class I connect to. It’s been fabulous, and has really been great for my should, whilst being trapped in doors and unable to get to any studios, to connect with like minded people – all travelling the same path.
Well, we are still travelling the same path. Only this time, the path is being travelled through cyber space and I am having so much fun with it.Β Especially as I now have the opportunity to do classes I probably would never have tried before, due to the locality of the yoga studio and of course the time of the class too (as I mentioned before).

In a time when for many the current circumstances would otherwise make the world dark, I feel that these times are when humans are at their best. Shining light through the dark and working together to overcome whatever crisis we are riding out together.
Despite the whole toilet paper apocalypse which occurred at the beginning LOL. Thank goodness that’s over.
