Exploring the Blue Mountains of New South Wales
We spent a lovely Friday driving through the Blue Mountains and discovered the historical town of Hartley. Last year Greg and I made a promise, if it snowed in Oberon, we would get in the car and drive straight there to see all the snow. If you don’t know where Oberon is, it’s located around two and half hours west over the Blue Mountains on route to Jenolan Caves, Australia’s famous caves and glow worms. Have You Ever Been To Mount Wilson?
Mount Wilson is one of those towns of the Blue Mountains, which often gets missed by many travellers exploring the spectacular sights of rural New South Wales. Located approximately two hours from Sydney, and around forty five minutes from Leura, Mount Wilson is an iconic part of the Blue Mountains, which transforms the native Aussie dry bushlands into a rainforest of ferns and in Spring boasts thousands and thousand of yellow daffodils, which pop up from the ground everywhere. Dining Out at Leura’s First Cafe
Opened in the 1920’s, Cafe Landeers is a cosy little place to eat in Leura where the food is tasty and the coffee is hot. Landeers was Leura’s first cafe and has retained much of the original design, furnishings and vibe of when it was first opened in the 1920’s. It has been renovated in some part, to upgrade it into the 21st century, however the ambient feel within still retains an old mountain town attitude of country meets city. Although the food presentation is not exactly Insta worthy (which is why I haven’t any pics of what we ate), it tasted great and was freshly made with local ingredients.…
