A Delicious Vegan Protein Smoothie Recipe

Start your morning right, with this easy to make and delicious vegan protein smoothie shake.

Vegan smoothies are on the rise, with a multitude of different powders being made available in the space of health, fitness and lifestyle, now available for anyone looking to up their intake of protein through the use of shakes and smoothies, without having to touch any meat.

A simple google search online will bring up a multitude of mixed articles wich are either against or with vegan styled protein powders, with many professionals claiming vegan protein powders are full of sugars and other un-necessary ingredients which may be doing more harm than good if they are consumed.

However, that’s not to say there are still a variety of honest brands available in the market of vegan protein powders, who concentrate their energy on providing a powder filled with natural and organic ingredients to support muscles growth and strength, whilst still nurturing the body and not causing any harm at all.

One brand I have fallen in love over the last few months is Body Science.

Body Science aren’t new to the market of protein powders and have been around for a while. Last year, they released a fabulous new range of protein powders and bars which are completely gluten-free, low in sugar, high in protein, full of organic and natural ingredients to boost vitamins and nutritions in the body and are 100 per cent vegan, without the inclusion of any nasty ingredients.

Personally, I’ve never been a big fan of protein shakes. Probably because I lacked the imagination needed to create interesting and flavoursome shakes, smoothies or anything else, where you could use protein powders to add a little variety into daily diet.

Of course, not being a fan of meat either no doubt played a huge part into why I never truly jumped on board with the whole protein powder trend.

So, over the last few months, I have been experimenting in the kitchen with the new vegan BSC (Body Science) protein powder to create some yummy recipes. Their chocolate one is my favourite. You just can’t go wrong with chocolate right?

The powder is delicious, completely plant-based and is naturally sweetened and gluten-free. There are no added sugars, articifical flavours or colours and no gums or other nasty fillers.

Without further adure, here is my latest creation, which is a chocolate and peanut butter protein shake I am totally obsessing over lately.

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole banana
  • Ice cubes
  • Coconut milk (make sure you use one that is natural, with no added sugars and unsweetened)
  • 1 scoop of the BSC chocolate protein powder
  • 1 scoop of sugar free peanut butter

Method:

In your blender (or bullet – whatever type you use), place the ice cubes, chopped banana, protein powder scoop and peanut butter scoop, then top with coconut milk. I always add a small amoutn of water too, as I like my shaked fairly runny, rather than thick.

Blend to desired texture. I like it super smooth, but my partner likes to have small ice and banana chunks, so I don’t blend his as much as mine.

Viola! You’re done. One super declious vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free and completely healthy protein shake. Enjoy.
