Where to Eat on the South Coast

The south coast of New South Wales offer a wide-range of trendy restaurants and great places to eat.

Surrounded by lush green hills, beautiful mountains, overgrowing bushlands and beaches, the south coast also serves up some of the best food around. Of course it helps when they are surrounded by spectacular farmlands producing fresh produce for the local eateries.

It safe to say the south coast eateries do plant to table well with their exciting and ever changing seasonal menus worth the trip down from Sydney.

My favourite is the Shoalhaven region, which over the last fews years has seen an amazing shift in changing their menu to a more plant-based one, which of course is mostly my diet these days.

From day break to evening, these are my favourite places to eat when I’m visiting the Shoalhaven region of the south coast of New South Wales.

Native – Ulladulla:

Overlooking the beautiful harbour at Ulladulla, Native serve up one of the best coffees in the south coast, along with a menu made of nutrional and delicious foods, like their chia pots and goodness bowls. Everything, even their cakes and slices, is made in-house, so it’s fresh and tastes great. I recommend trying one of their delicious vegan sweets after lunch with coffee, amazing.

Leaf – Berry and Nowra:

Leaf are a veggie-focused Asian cuisine eatery, fusing dishes from your favourite eastern countries like Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand. LEAF actually stands for Love Eating Asian Food – I mean how cute is that. And although their menu is very veggie based, they also serve up some oustanding dishes for all you carnivores. I recommend the vegan tom yum fried rice though – yum!

Greendales Cafe – Pyree:

I first discovered this amazing cafe whilst on tour with Noble Transfers and Tours – a boutique wine tour company who host intimate winery tours around the south coast. You can read that story here. The cafe is located in a quiet rural town, surrounded by farmlands and corn fields. And the food matches the surroundings. They offer a great menu of wholefoods. And there’s even an outdoor area for the kids to play.

The Treehouse Cafe – Ulladulla:

For a quality experience, you will definitely want to head to the Treehouse Cafe in Ulladulla. This cafe is a beautifully restored old cottage in the heart of Ulladulla, catering for vegans, vegetarians, gluten-free and any other diet you can think of. Expect to seea wonderful display of healthy items on their menu, from pancake stacks to veggie bowls and nutrional burgers. is your mouth watering yet?

Craft Surf – Ulladulla:

It;s safe to say Ulladulla have expanded their tastebuds when it comes to eateries, modernising the traditional beachside fish and chip shop for a boutique cafe which not only serves up perfect coffee, offers menus worth the drive down south for. Craft Surf is more of a stop of cafe location for either morning tea or afternoon tea. They make wholefoods treats, raw treats and have created the most delicious raw cupcakes you’ll ever try.
