Wine Tours: Exploring the South Coast of New South Wales
Took a wine tour through the Shoalhaven region of New South Wales with Noble Transfers and Tours.
If you live in Sydney and love wine, you need to book with Noble Transfers and Tours for a fabulous wine tasting and wine tour throughout the Shoalhaven Region along the south coast of New South Wales.
Noble Transfers and Tours (previously known as Shire to Shoalhaven) specialise is taking personalised tours in the wine district of Shoalhaven around Berry, Gerringong, and Kiama.
I was invited along by Jayne Noble, founder, and owner of Noble Transfers and Tours, to spend the day exploring all the beautiful wineries she includes in the many available itineraries she offers.
Funny enough, prior to me finding out about Jayne’s wonderful wine tour company, I had no idea the south coast of New South Wales even had a wine district. I’ve driven the main roads around the region countless times, by myself, with family and with my partner and never did I once realise we were driving past some of the most beautiful wineries New South Wales has to offer.
Most of the estates are quite historical and have been there for a while; like Crooked River Wines, Mountain Ridge Wines, Silos Estate and Cambewarra Estate. However, the winery really worth taking the wine tour for is Coolangatta Ridge.
Coolangatta Estate is situated on the site of the first European settlement of the south coast of New South Wales. This settlement took place in 1822 and the wine estate today still holds the original foundations which were built during that settlement. These foundations have been beautifully restored as accommodation suites, restaurants, beer garden, and a dining hall; which can be rented out for special events like weddings and birthdays.
There is also a self-guided walking tour available for anyone visiting the estate and looking to immerse themselves deeper into Australia’s colonial history. I was both amazed and surprised such a place existed on the south coast.
There are many different tour options with Noble Transfers and Tours, with itineraries including a casual wholefood lunch at The Greendale’s Cafe; which is a beautiful hipster style organic cafe making delicious coffee and serving beautiful wholesome foods for breakfast and lunch or a more high end dining lunch experience at Crooked River Winery.
And for those of you who don’t like wine, that’s okay. Jayne also offers brilliant shopping tours where you can shop till you drop all day, exploring boutique shops and markets in Berry, Gerringong, and Kiama.
Jayne is amazing and clearly loves her job. She is friendly and so informative about all the places she takes you to on the tour. From the history of the towns, ghost stories of the area, knowledge about all the wineries and more. There’s nothing you won’t learn from her on a one day tour with Noble. It was such a beautiful day getting to know her, chatting about life and why she began her wine tour business.
I highly recommend you end the day at the Two Figs Winery, they have the most amazing views of the Shoalhaven Region, like none other and for a very affordable price serve up one of the best cheese platters around; perfectly matched with your chosen wine for tasting.
If you are looking for a great way to spend a Saturday or Sunday with a group of friends, for a birthday, a Hen’s night or another special occasion, do check out her tours. You will not regret it.
