Step inside the beautiful old heritage house Hambl Step inside the beautiful old heritage house Hambledon Cottage with @parramattahistoricalsociety This the house that John MacArthur built. And I’m showing my age here, but for an Aussie who remembers the $2 green note we used to have. The guy on that note with the merino sheep next to him.. that’s John MacArthur. Hambledon Cottage is now a house museum, rendered sandstone brick in a colonial Georgian style. The joinery throughout the cottage is made of Australian cedar. Some of the internal ceilings and walls are of lath and plaster whilst one bedroom still has its original ironbark flooring. It’s an interesting visit, and the house is very well preserved.
