Halloween Styling: Decorating the House for Halloween

It’s that time of the year, when the Halloween decorations come out and the festive vibes of Autumn and Fall are channeled in the month of Spring.

And it’s that something in itself. Celebrating the colours of red, gold, orange and yellow in Spring, when the gardens are all blooming with flowers of pink, purple, yellow and blue. And although Autumn is not the season for Halloween here in Australia, I spent the month of October dreaming of golden sunsets, cold evenings and cosy jumpers.

Of course, most of the time in October (every year) many of the days of the month are cold and wet, so it’s not that hard to really channel the right Halloween Autumn and Fall vibes, to help ring in this fabulous season of Spiced Pumpkin Lattes, Pumpkin Pies and woody candle scents.

For this post, I wanted to walk through a few of my favourite Halloween decorations, which are a mixture of new and old, and used to decorate the front door of the house.

For outside of the house, I like to keep things fairly neutral, but do have a nice collection of Halloween treats to place outside when the day has finally arrived for kids to come trick or treating. For now, though, the outside is about keeping things warm and cosy, with a touch of Halloween.

So, I raided my favourite seasonal store TK Maxx. They always have some of the best Halloween decorations (and Christmas – but that’s a post for another time).

TK Maxx is Canadian, which explains why their decorations are so Autumn and Fall inspired, especially as October is their month of Thanksgiving (unlike America who celebrates Thanksgiving in November). So, of course, their decorations are stunning and unique and I love raiding their store every year to see what’s new.

Take a sneak peek below at what I found. Two cute pillows, which I am totally obsessing over and the beautiful wood carved BOO sign.

The pillows were $24.95 each and the BOO sign was $19.95. I did also purchase the cutest ever Halloween tea towels, a set of two for $12.95, some Halloween Pj pants with little black cats and the word BOO in orange which was $12.95 also and some cuter than ever Halloween socks, a set of three for $7.95.

The socks are super cute. One pair is plain orange, another is orange with a black cat which has little bag wings and purple glitter toe ends, and the last ones are purple with black cats which have little bag wings and orange glitter toe ends. Cute as.

There are a few more decorations I really loved at TK Maxx, which I may yet go back and purchase towards the end of the month. As TK Maxx often pops everything up for sale a week out of the end of Halloween. But, you have to be super fast in getting into your nearest store to purchase. They are super cheap and decorations go flying out the door really quickly.

I’m absolutely loving my new Halloween decorations and styling at the front door this year, which of course includes a few bits and pieces I have owned for a while now. Like the wreath, the Autumn leaves, and the ceramic Jack-o_lantern in the pot plant.

Oh and if you’d like to now where I got my Halloween wreath from, I actually made it myself. Click here to see how.
