Staying at Ravensthorpe Colonial Bed & Breakfast

It’s easy to forget about taking care of yourself, when you’re busy taking care of others and also caught up with the hustle and bustle of life.

So, it’s important to listen to your body and know when you need to take some time out to rest, unwind and regroup.

Caught up with life; both personally and with work, I had forgotten to do this for myself and it had been a while (a long while) since I had used any spare time I had to take a break from life. Even for just a day. Between university studies, working part-time, trying to catch up with friends and family when I can and managing a household, whatever spare time I did have I was either at yoga or sleeping.

And to be honest, without making sure I managed both the sleeping part and the yoga part, mentally (and physically) I may not have pulled through all of life’s challenges I have faced so far this year (and still going).

Not so long ago, I was given the amazing opportunity to stay in a beautiful authentic Australian homestead, located only 90 minutes south from Sydney. It was here I realised how overdue I was to get away from my routine and take a break. And although it was a working overnight stay at the homestead, just having the space to breath again and be in my own space, with my own company, was exactly what I needed to regroup my thoughts and work on myself both mentally and physically.

Although this blog is more about reminding you (and myself) on the importance of taking as much time as you can; and when you can, to look after yourself. I will share with you later on some details on where I stayed also, as the homestead was absolutely beautiful and I was amazed something so wonderful was hiding so close to the city.

I came back from my mini getaway feeling recharged and revitalised. And, yes I know what you’re all thinking… Once you settle back into your routine, evern from a mini getaway, most of those good feelings tend to drift away. It’s a reminder that we need to be more mindful of those feelings and don’t let them wander too far. This has helped me work harder in the week to prevent me from working on the weekend. Something I had been doing for a while now.

So, take the time to listen to your mind and your heart; however wishy washy that sounds LOL. Even if you take half a day break from life, you will forever thank yourself for doing it. Trust me. Otherwise, how are you expected to be there for others when they need you, if you can’t even be there for yourself.

Details on where I stayed for my midweek break: Raventhorpe Manor in Albion Park.
