5 Things To Do in Jindabyne

Depending on the season, Jindabyne and surrounding areas provide the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle. Here are five reasons why.

Firstly, if you’re opting for a mid-week stay any time of the year in Jindabyne, I highly recommend you look at booking yourself into a farm stay somewhere in the region, especially in Winter.

Of course, staying in a farm stay during summer you may be exposed to some pretty hot temps. However, we stayed in winter and being out in the country was the most fabulous experience.

We stayed at a house called Kangaroo Willows which is located around fifty minutes south-east of Jindabyne in a place called Bungarby. The house was fabulous, all cosy with a fireplace and we even had snowfall which was absolutely magical. Though the snow didn’t last, just watching it fall was such a brilliant experience.

We were close enough to Jindabyne and far enough away from all the craziness of the ski season and had a blast staying out in the country.

When I say we, there were in total ten of us (including two kids) and surprising enough, the kids absolutely loved being out in the country. It was such a novice for them, being city kids and not having spent too much time visiting places in the country, using a fireplace for heat.

Instead of detailing each individual activity I like to do in the area, I thought I would just list my favourite dive.

So here are my favourite five things to do around Jindabyne, no matter the season:

  1. 1. Take a drive through the country
  2. 2. Visit Thredbo, catch a chairlift to their top run Eagles Nest and have lunch.
  3. 3. Shopping in Jindabyne – make sure to include a coffee stop at Red Door Cafe and lunch at Banjo Patterson Inn
  4. 4. Horse riding at Crackenback
  5. 5. Canoeing on Jindabyne Lake
