Spiced Pumpkin Latte

Can’t get to Starbucks for a traditional Spiced Pumpkin Latte, that’s okay, check out the recipe below on how to make your own.

This Spiced Pumpkin Latte comes care of Bigger Bolder Baking who shared a deliciously simple recipe which can be made completely vegan if traditional dairy isn’t your thing. The only change I made to the recipe was the ingredients, as I was making this latte for one – me.

After making a delicious Pumpkin Pie, I had so much pumpkin puree leftover, so I went online and began searching for other Halloween and Autumn-inspired recipes where I could use the remainder of the pumpkin puree. So far, I have come up with Spiced Pumpkin Ice-cream (YUM), Pumpkin spice protein balls, and of course Spiced Pumpkin Latte.

Here’s what you’ll need – if you’re making for one:

  • 1 teaspoon of pumpkin puree
  • 1 teaspoon of raw sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice mix (click here for recipe)
  • 1 shot of coffee
  • Whatever milk you wish to use and cream for topping (if you like that kind of thing.

For the shot of coffee, you can either use instant in a shot of glass of hot water, or if you’re like me and coffee obsessed and have a coffee machine, than one single shot is enough. Okay, full disclosure here, although the recipes calls for one shot, I actually do put two LOL. I love my coffee.

The method is super easy, though it will differ depending on whether you have a coffee machine that froths milk or not. As I have a frother, I generally mix everything in my favourite coffee mug and then top with frothed soy milk.

If you don’t have a frother, then all you have to do is place all the ingredients into a saucepan with whatever milk you choose (enough just for one mug though – not too milk milk), bring to the boil so it’s all nice and mixed and then pour into your mug.

As I have a frother (and I love my froth), I normally don’t top mine with any whipped cream. However, if you are making yours in the saucepan, then top with whipped cream and super delicious and then you can top with either chocolate sprinkles, some of the pumpkin pie spice, or both.

Of course if you want to make for multiple people and don’t have a coffee machine, then you will need to adjust the ingredients, which is noted below:

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 cup of brewed coffee
  • 1/2 cup of milk of your choice

And the method is the same, you simply add all the ingredients into a saucepan and then bring to the boil. Serve topped with whipped cream and sprinkle with the pumpkin pie spice or chocolate, or both again and you’re done.

Of course, it’s difficult to compete the Pumpkin Spiced Latte from Starbucks, as they are pretty amazing. But this recipe comes pretty close and you can make it anytime. Which is great for anyone who loves in Australia, as we seldom come across a Starbucks and what ones are available, especially in Sydney, they are in the city, or out west. Definitely not around my suburban territory.
